INDSPEED

The project INDSPEED is developing a new ultra-precise magnetic encoder system based on TMR sensors and SmCo pole wheels.

Project Objectives:

  • Enable cost-competitive low-field TMR sensing by using optimized SmCo layers and leveraging TMR benefits such as robustness to stray fields and low power consumption.
  • Minimize system-level tolerances through advanced sensor/pole-writing design and AI-driven compensation techniques.
  • Achieve high-speed industrial sensing (e.g., CNC spindles) that eliminates the need for back-bias magnets and replaces costly high-speed elastomer solutions.
  • Deliver precise absolute position sensing with true-power-on and multiturn capabilities for robotics and collaborative robots.

Project Consortium:

  • Infineon Technologies AG
  • Nanomag GmbH
  • ELSOMA GmbH
